Their Divorce is like a death,
That takes away your breath.
It’s something we didn’t conceive,
And simply can’t believe.
We’ve known them all our lives,
And they acted like most husbands and wives.
The thing that haunts me,
is the trouble and strife we didn’t see.
We feel it could have been greed,
But I guess they each have a separate need.
And, while we helplessly ponder why,
We watch another marriage die.
A FUNERAL OR MARRIAGE
Whether a funeral or a marriage
There’s usually a horse drawn carriage.
In both services mother’s cry for your soul
As the church bells toll.
Then the preacher reads from his Bible
About who’s been good, or who’s been liable.
And after the tolling of the bell
It’s either heaven or hell.
