When Fred became ill and could no longer write, he authorized the publication of his complete collection of Bible Moments, only if the proceeds went to Christian Charities. And you’ll be pleased to know that’s exactly what we do as proceeds from the sale of this book allow.
As we begin each new year, we are certainly aware that we have failed our Lord in many ways. He does not ask us to make resolutions to try harder. Jesus does not need our resolutions, our re-commitments or our promise to try harder this year. If our commitments to obey God last year did not help us to be faithful, it will not make us successful this year. Jesus asks simply for our love. If we truly love Him, then our service for Him in the new year will be of the quality He desires.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Fred Rogers shared, “I was saved in a small Missionary Baptist church in rural Alabama in 1981. And from that day on I realized why He led me out of the valley of the shadow of death several times while in the Submarine service for 20 years and in my civilian life afterward. He is leading me, guiding me, and calling me to this day.”
He also admonished, “I am a “Believer” more so that a Christian because the word Christian means “Christ Like” and I cannot qualify for I am, after all, a sinner.”
Fred Rodgers began writing “Bible Moments” when he worked as a columnist for The Northwest Alabamian, a weekly newspaper in Haleyville, Alabama. After 10 years in Haleyville, Fred moved on and subsequently served as a Sheriff for the city of Payson, Arizona, where his personal calling from the Lord was intensified when he was miraculously saved after his truck sank in a flash flood. Fred struggled to shore, was guided safely along a cliff through that dark stormy night, and then found naked and unconscious the next day by his own Sheriff’s department. Throughout the experience Fred was reminded of John 8:10: He that follows after Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Fred and his wife Ruby eventually moved to the community of Las Palmas in Mesa, AZ. While residing there, Fred became a member of Las Palmas Chapel, finding yet another outlet for his “Bible Moments” and renewed his writing for the Chapel’s weekly bulletin.
When Fred became seriously ill, and could no longer write, author, Don Wooldridge knew these weekly contributions could not continue, yet desperately wanted to preserve Fred’s weekly writings so he compiled them into a complete collection. Fred was proud of this printed collection and gave away many booklets to friends and family before his death.
